The Program

THE KING'S TEACHER

This program will explore the theorbo music of Robert de Visée (ca. 1655 – 1732/1733) who was a musician at the court of Louis XIV in Versailles.   Visée, along with being a prominent member of the musical activities at the court, was also the "Guitar Master of the King" (Maître de Guitare du Roi).
