Ars Lyrica is seeking an Administrative & Marketing Intern to help fill out our team!

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Grammy-nominated early music ensemble Ars Lyrica Houston (ALH) is seeking an administrative/marketing (AM) intern for its 2019/2020 season and beyond.  The AM intern assists in office tasks and marketing activities with the goal of creating greater awareness of ALH, increasing ticket sales, and attracting and diversifying audience base. The AM intern reports to the Executive Director and works closely with ALH Staff. 

STATUS: 10-30 hours a week (specific projects can be completed remotely); university credit or work-study opportunities are possible and due to availability/approval

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Administrative and business operations

  • Assist with daily correspondence and produce records for marketing, fundraising, and business purposes

  • File invoices, vendor, and publicity materials

  • Ensure adequate supplies for office and all events

  • Maintain and expand databases (Patron Manager/Salesforce)

Operational support at concerts, special events, fundraisers, and educational outreach programs

  • Assist with all donor and fundraising events and front-of-house duties at concerts

  • Assist with reception and catering services at concerts and events

  • Assist with instrument moving, stage set-up, and other logistics

PR/Marketing assistance

  • Assist in the implementation of marketing plans that include advertising, direct mail and e-mail campaigns, mailing and email address list development, promotion of ALH programs, sponsorships, donor cultivation program, and special ticket offers

  • Compile press kits and editorial matter, archive promotional materialsSocial media networking

  • Create dialogue with campus students and generating buzz for ALH’s events and student subscriptions through social media and peer-to-peer interaction

  • Assist with planning and implementing all ALH's events

 QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (in progress) with focus in Administration and/or PR/marketing, music majors/minors is a plus

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Experience/interest in working with non-profit arts organizations is a plus

  • Interest, knowledge, and enthusiasm for classical music is a plus

  • Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking

  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills; willingness to take initiative and contribute in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information

  • Availability during ALH events: some evening and weekend hours required
