From the Directors

Ars Lyrica’s upcoming season, announced just a month before the COVID-19 outbreak in this country, has evolved significantly over the last few months. We have developed new virtual platforms (with over 50 programs already produced and aired) and have successfully rescheduled for presentation in 2021/22 four of five subscription programs that we had planned for 2020/21. We have also put together a revised subscription season for 2020/21, one that comports with emerging pandemic guidelines for arts presenters.

Our new Side by Side season begins virtually in September with a spirited program of musical duels from the German Baroque. All-Bach programs in October and November feature solo cantatas and chamber works by the great master music plus solo works for violin and harpsichord. A festive holiday program in December offers seasonal favorites by Vivaldi, Telemann, and Scarlatti. Our March 2021 program, which remains unchanged from our earlier season announcement, juxtaposes two iconic works by Mozart and Pergolesi. May programs include a Polish Baroque chamber program and our season finale, Handel’s gorgeous pastoral Aminta & Fillide.

We anticipate a decision about a socially distanced audience for Spring 2021 programs in due course, as local and national conditions allow. A virtual subscription gives subscribers 48-hour viewing access, following the release (concert) time of each program.

With thanks for your continued patronage and support in these challenging times,
