Tickets for the Esther & Jonah concert may be picked up at your table at the 6:00pm dinner at Artista in Hobby Center prior to the performance.

Ars Lyrica’s 2017-2018 season of Artful Women explores the diverse roles played by women in the musical culture of the 17th and 18th centuries: as muse, heroine, musician, and patron. Each of our six subscription programs at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts has a remarkable story to tell, and we’re very much looking forward to sharing some exceptional music with you.

This season it seems especially appropriate that we honor some of Houston’s leading female philanthropists, especially those who are longtime members of the Ars Lyrica family. Our fourth concert on Friday, February 16th thus honors Robin Angly, whose tireless advocacy and generous support of many of Houston’s leading cultural organizations has been crucial to artistic growth, financial sustainability, and long-term impact in the community. The festivities on February 16th begin with an exclusive dinner with Robin Angly and Miles Smith at Artista Restaurant and are followed by the Esther & Jonah concert in Zilkha Hall and an onstage post-concert reception. Cost for the whole package (dinner, concert, and post-concert reception) is $300 for individual tickets and $550 for couples. We understand that not everyone will be able to attend the pre-concert dinner, which has limited seating, so we are also offering a single ticket VIP concert seat & reception package for $100. All packages may be purchased ONLINE by filling out the reservation form below, or by calling Ars Lyrica’s office at 713-622-7443.

Additionally, a special section of the concert program will include words of gratitude to Robin Angly, and we’d be delighted if you would contribute a sentence or two. If you’re not able to be at the concert, please consider a donation in Robin Angly’s honor. We hope you will join us in celebrating Robin Angly’s rich musical legacy on February 16th.

Music has been a big part of Robin Angly's life since childhood. She grew up in a household that exposed her to singers like Joan Sutherland, Ella Fitzgerald and a lot of Bach, she began with piano lessons at the age of five, then at fourteen, voice lessons at Aspen Music Festival. Robin has sung with the Houston Grand Opera, The Houston Symphony Chorus and has a philanthropic passion to support the arts, the opera, and the symphony. Robin and her husband, Miles Smith have served on the Ars Lyrica Houston board with a tenure that has instilled a passion for the organization's mission and they hold it close to their hearts. Both Robin and Miles are excited to be a part of the process of bringing the organization's first fully staged Baroque opera, Agrippina that feature two rising operatic countertenors, Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen, and John Holiday.
