Tenor

Described as possessing a “remarkably clear, flexible lyric tenor,” and a “radiant tone,” Zachary Wilder is a much sought after performer on both the operatic and concert stage. He has performed with many ensembles across the United States including Apollo’s Fire, Ars Lyrica Houston, Boston Early Music Festival, Emmanuel Music, Mercury Baroque, and Pacific Musicworks. He made his European debut as Renaud in Lully’s Armide at the Théâtre de Gennevilliers in Paris with Mercury Baroque, and was described by Le Figaro as having played an “exceptional Renaud.” He returns to France in summer 2011 to perform as Coridon in Händel’s Acis and Galatea at the Festival D’Aix en Provence and again at La Fenice in Venice. Zachary was named the 2010-2011 Lorraine Hunt Lieberson Fellow at Emmanuel Music and is a former Gerdine Young Artist at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis as well as a Tanglewood Music Center Fellow. Recent performances include Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri, the Evangelist in Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion, a recital of Portuguese song, Mordecai in Händel’s Esther, Mozart’s Requiem and his Carnegie Hall debut in Bach’s B Minor Mass. He can be heard on the Grammy nominated recording of Lully’s Psyché by Boston Early Music Festival as well as their recent release of Charpentier’s Actéon and Pierre Philosophale on the CPO label. A native of Los Angeles, he holds a B.M. from the Eastman School of Music and an M.M. from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston.
