John Holiday

Countertenor

From Mendelssohn’s Elijah to his recent debut as Testo in the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music production of Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda, John Holiday’s deeply expressive, richly beautiful voice has made him an increasingly sought-after countertenor. Critic Peter Jacobi of the Herald Times says Holiday “exhibits a vocal instrument that threatens to equal the world’s name artists in his range.” Holiday’s ability to move the audience with his stirring, expressive, and communicative ability is a rare quality for such a young artist. Season highlights include performances as the countertenor soloist for Bach Cantata 106: Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit, performances of Bertarido from Rodelina and Oberon from A Midsummer Night’s Dream with University of Cincinnati, and debut performances with Ars Lyrica Houston.
